About

NHR Advisory, as with most things in life, was born out of a need.

When people intersect in the work at work, the number of variables around experience, process, and standards is enormous. The sheer volume makes nearly impossible and rarely feasible to learn and maintain deep knowledge in other specialties that are not your own. You bring your product, I bring the structure.

Nicholas “Nick” Hilligoss, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-CP

Principal Advisor of NHR Advisory LLC

As a new father of two, I understand hectic days, lost sleep, and the balancing act that comes with life. I’m honored to have supported organizations across levels, sizes, and complexities as the foundation for my expertise and a core reason I’m building NHR Advisory today. Through the last five years, I’ve specialized in Human Resources serving as a strategic human resources business partner, human resources manager, and small-to-midsize business human resources leader. Each role on that journey has taught me the ins-and-outs of human resource concepts, strategies, and organizational leadership.

Having led through growth, stabilization, and rapid change allows me to holistically review your needs to provide realistic, feasible options on next steps. To support my experiential journey, through my career, I’ve worked to educate myself on HR specific best practices in addition to business and healthcare operations acumen. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2019 followed by my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Western Governors University in 2026 as I worked full time in healthcare, behavioral health, and human resources. Through education, I was able to test for and obtain both my Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential from Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and, most recently, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) throught Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). Each certification serves as a validation of foundational skills and knowledge in understanding human resources best practices and competent to apply those principles to unique scenarios.

To round out, I enjoy supporting a variety of teams and products. Partnering through success and sharing knowledge truly fills my cup. Through the years, I’ve learned that people are complicated, strategy is unique, and a little advise can go a long way.

Best,

Nick
