About Us

NHR Advisory starts with your needs.

The intersection of people, policy, and strategic goals creates the need for human resource and organizational support that most scaling or small-to-midsize organizations typically go without, until it’s too late. Risk and liability show in nearly every facet of your operation from hiring and scheduling to training, payroll and more.

As an HR professional and leader, I’ve supported teams across healthcare, behavioral health, distribution, and community supports as I partnered with and led HR teams that successfully scale teams to retention and engage, refine core processes to eliminate waste and lower cost of goods and services, navigate the evolving workforce needs to improve the employee and customer experience, and upskill leadership teams to support their teams in an effective and values-aligned format. Whether your need is a one-time issue consultation, fractional HR leadership, short-term improvement project, or ongoing support for your current HR team, NHR Advisory is there as a partner to your success.

Nicholas “Nick” Hilligoss, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-CP

Principal Advisor of NHR Advisory LLC

I’m honored to have supported organizations of all employee sizes, levels of complexity, and to rebuild standards and processes that weren’t designed to be scaled. This foundation crafted my expertise and is a core reason I’m building NHR Advisory today. Through the last five years, I’ve specialized in Human Resources serving as a strategic human resources business partner, human resources manager, and small-to-midsize business human resources leader in foodservice distribution, disability case management, applied behavior analysis therapy, and as part of a state-wide health system. Every step on that journey provided me the opportunity to drive change management, career development, enhance HR systems leading to improved efficiency, retention and reduction in costs to acquire talent, and decrease overall indirect operating expense.

Having led through growth, stabilization, and rapid change allows me to holistically review your needs to provide realistic, feasible options on next steps. To support my experiential journey, through my career, I’ve worked to educate myself on HR specific best practices in addition to business and healthcare operations acumen. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2019 followed by my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Western Governors University in 2026 as I worked full time in healthcare, behavioral health, and human resources. Through education and experience, I was able to obtain both my Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and, most recently, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). Each certification serves as a validation of foundational skills and knowledge in understanding human resources best practices and competence to apply situational judgement to unique scenarios.

As a leader, I enjoy supporting diverse teams as I continue to navigate human resources, compliance, and operational needs. Engaging teams and successfully partnering through challenges drives my pursuit of excellence. Through the years, I’ve learned that people are complicated, strategy is unique, and a little advice can go a long way. My goal is to bring that learning and expertise in a format that meets your needs with outcomes and learning along the way.

Best,

Nick
